A brotherhood for autistic spellers and AAC users—built on trust, presumed competence, and the power of connection.
Our Story
Our Greek letters of Sigma Chi signify: Sigma (Σ) relates to Learning, Chi (Χ) signifies Friendship. This is our way of reflecting our core principles—communication and dialogue with any means are the foundation of personal growth, leadership, and lifelong friendship.
This is where our fraternity Sigma 2 Chi was born—for those that spell to communicate and others with disabilities who respect this form of communication.
For many autistic individuals and other disabled people, social spaces have been inaccessible, dismissive, or isolating. Sigma 2 Chi exists to change that—creating a brotherhood where communication differences are understood and respected, where members can socialize without masking or proving themselves, and where friendship grows naturally over time.
This is not a program or a service. This is a fraternity—a social community of peers who presume each other's competence, share traditions and culture, and build relationships that last a lifetime.
Our Foundation
This fraternity is first and foremost a brotherhood—a social community built on trust, shared experience, and mutual respect. Brotherhood here does not require conformity. It requires belonging.
Presuming competence is not just a belief—it is the foundation of how members relate to one another. No member's thoughts, humor, or leadership potential is questioned because of how they communicate.
We believe in visible pride and shared identity. Members represent the fraternity in ways meaningful to them.
Connect
Our events are designed to build friendship, tradition, and shared experience—not just programming. Some events are structured; many are intentionally unstructured to allow real social connection to develop at a comfortable pace.

Join the Brotherhood
Membership is more than attendance—it is belonging to a social brotherhood that recognizes and respects autistic spellers as peers. This fraternity is designed to grow relationships over time, not through forced interaction, but through consistency and shared space.

Represent
Our merchandise exists to celebrate identity, brotherhood, and pride. Wearing fraternity merchandise is optional—but for many, it offers a way to express pride and belonging, a visible signal of shared values, and a conversation starter that doesn't require explanation.
All proceeds from merchandise sales support the fraternity's operations, accessibility tools, events, and community-building efforts.
